About Me

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Curtis Black was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools and received a Master of Education degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling in 2008. Mr. Black serves as an advocate and champion for youth and adults with disabilities. A longtime volunteer and advocate in his community, Mr. Black is the founder and operator of Angels Helping Angels, Inc., a grass roots nonprofit organization that seeks to eliminate hunger, homelessness, and extreme poverty throughout the state of Maryland. Throughout his many years of service, his passion for public service has been wide reaching and has improved the quality of life for thousands of Baltimore’s most vulnerable citizens. Mr. Black has devoted his life to serving those in need and has demonstrated throughout his young life, a truly remarkable ability to build strong relationships, touch people personally, inspire by giving back, and lead by example. Mr. Black believes deeply in the power of service and philanthropy, and has dedicated his life to bringing those two powerful forces together to make this world a better place for all. Mr. Black lives in Maryland with his wife Stacey, daughter Fallon and their dog Jackson.

    - Devise, implement, and oversee dynamic programs related to issues endemic among homeless individuals.

    - Identify, develop and cultivate relationships with donors, increasing the visibility of AHA in the community and among current and potential donors.

    - Manage a diverse staff of professionals, creating and maintaining a culture of performance and accountability, to ensure the effective delivery of the organization’s programs by employees and volunteers.

    - Possess significant skills in finance, technology, and human capital management and the ability to build coalitions and strategic relationships with other nonprofit organizations, as well as municipal, state, and federal agencies, to achieve common goals.

  • Present Adjunct Faculty - Coppin State University
    - Instruct/facilitate multiple courses such as REHB 401 (Field Work in Rehabilitation 1), REHB 402 (Field Work in Rehabilitation 2), REHB 406-Seminar in Rehabilitation and PSYC 452 (Field Placement 1) to prepare undergraduate students to work in various rehabilitation settings.

    - Prepared and delivered lectures to nearly 600 students in total to enhance student knowledge, skills, and abilities in the area of rehabilitation service delivery. 

    - Serve as an active member on the Rehab Services Advisory Board at Coppin State University.

Local educator, advocate and inspirational author, Curtis Black of Baltimore, Maryland, has dedicated his life to understanding, helping and educating others.
